Ballroom Dance is Brandi's passion in life. After discovering her love for the sport, Brandi took intensive lessons and became a 17-time Gold Medalist and Regional Ballroom Dance Champion. She even met her wonderful husband through the Ballroom Dance Club @ LSU. Now she is a Navy wife and enjoys teaching Ballroom to people from all walks of life.
Brandi's teaching style is unique to many other Ballroom Dance instructors. She teaches steps side-by-side with heavy technique, so that whether a person in new to the sport, has been dancing for 10 years, or is finally ready to compete, he or she will be able to learn something new and exciting. |
Brandi's Story |
Mom and Dad had gone away for their anniversary, I was 9 years old and my grandpa had run out of ideas. We had gone to a nearby field to play baseball, we had gone to get snoballs, and then we were back at his house with nothing to do. And then he said the words that would change my whole life: "Would you like to learn to Waltz?"
And that was it. I quit ballet and he and I performed around the state for several years. A short time later we got involved in teaching Ballroom at a high school north of New Orleans. Around that same time, I started taking lessons from professional instructors and then began participating in Regional competitions. At 16 years old, I began teaching private Ballroom lessons, and at 17, I trained my grandpa for the Ballroom Dance Senior Olympics. He took home 6 first place medals and the Judges Favorite Award. Not long after that, i started college at LSU where some of our friends from the high school we had taught at, had gone on before me to start the Ballroom Dance Club @ LSU; which is where i met Philip, my now husband. Philip and I competed in Ballroom for several years during college, however, upon graduation, Philip was commissioned as an officer in the US Navy. Seven months later we were married, and, since then, we have been blessed to live in Mississippi, Texas, and most recently, Washington. That is why you may notice that my competitive record doesn't include 2013-current; we haven't been in one place long enough to train. It is also why, at the bottom of each page of this site, you will read, "Currently located on Whidbey Island, Washington. Subject to change based on the will of the US Navy." |
